The rapid spread of the Zika virus is a serious crisis in Brazil and Latin America and underscores how critical it is that women and girls have access to sexual and reproductive health information and services.
IWHC has been supporting women’s groups in Brazil for decades—while many other international donors left the country years ago. In spite of dwindling support, the women’s movement there is a powerful force, and our local partners are ready to respond. They are raising awareness in the general public and providing much needed information and education, dispelling the many myths that are spreading about the virus. They are urging their government to make contraception more affordable and for abortion to be legal and safe.
But they are strapped for resources because the demands are so much greater now. They need your help today.
