On March 7, 2017, the International Women’s Health Coalition presented Pakistani activist Sheena Hadi with the prestigious Joan B. Dunlop Award. Hadi currently serves as Executive Director of Aahung, a nonprofit organization and IWHC grantee partner devoted to improving young people’s access to sexual and reproductive health information and care.

Aahung successfully worked with Pakistan’s Department of Education in Sindh province—which has the country’s highest rates of child, early, and forced marriage—to integrate comprehensive sexuality education content into the school curriculum. Hadi is also an active United Nations advocate and a recipient of the 2013 Human Rights Tulip Award from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
