In the Extreme North of Cameroon, where Association pour la Promotion de l’Autonomie et des Droits de la Jeune Fille/Femme (Association for the Promotion of Autonomy and the Rights of Young Girls and Women, or APAD) is based, nearly 80 percent of girls have experienced an early and forced marriage before the age of 18.

In this video, IWHC President Françoise Girard speaks with Danedjo Hadidja, President of APAD, which is led by child marriage survivors. APAD works to prevent child marriage and support survivors so they are able to tell their stories, demand social change, and survive on their own.
