Published in 1989, this paper explains the need for comprehensive reproductive health services and suggests means of strengthening existing programs. A “reproductive health” approach, with women at its center, could considerably strengthen the achievements of existing family planning and health programs, while helping women to attain health, dignity, and basic rights.
