Collection of Personal Information

There are certain areas of Our Site where we ask for your personal information, such as your name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, or credit card information (“Your Personal Information”). For example, we ask for Your Personal Information in our online donation form. You may also choose to provide us with your email address in order to receive our email alerts and newsletters. 

How We Use Your Personal Information

By giving Your Personal Information to IWHC, you provide permission for IWHC to store and use it for the purposes described in this section. Your Personal Information is used for the purposes for which you give it to us, which may include the following: 

  • To process registrations for events and other IWHC activities;
  • To process your donations;
  • To develop and improve our services and activities;
  • To provide you with information on events or other news that we think might interest you.


You may opt-in to receiving communications from us for the purposes described above. If you decide you no longer want to receive any communications from us, or if you want to limit the kinds of communications sent to you, you can indicate your preferences by (1) selecting the “unsubscribe” option in our emails, (2) contacting us by email at [email protected], or (3) calling (212) 979-8500 and asking for the Web Site Administrator.

Collection of Anonymous Information

Our servers automatically log certain information that IWHC uses for statistical analysis of web site traffic. The information is stored as log files on our server. The log files are regularly collected and analyzed by software to produce visitor trend reports. Our server logs do not collect personally identifiable information about individual users, such as names, mailing addresses, email address, occupation, etc. IWHC also collects anonymous information through cookies and clear GIFs or other graphical files placed on web pages of Our Site. IWHC does not link anonymous information it collects through Our Site to individual users’ personally identifiable information.

The anonymous information we collect includes:

  • Total monthly visits associated with a particular computer;
  • Total page views associated with a particular computer;
  • Number of visits to each page on Our Site associated with a particular computer;
  • The length of time a user remains on Our Site;
  • The length of time a user remains on each page on Our Site;
  • The order in which a user views the pages on Our Site;
  • A user’s entry and exits points on Our Site;
  • The referring site that referred a user to Our Site;
  • Web pages accessed by a particular computer;
  • Actions taken during a visit on a particular web page (e.g., links or banners clicked);

This information is used to determine:

  • Traffic patterns;
  • Average visitor session length;
  • Number of visitors to certain areas of the site;
  • Number of total new visitors;
  • Number of total repeat visitors;
  • Repeat visitor rate;
  • Other user trends;
  • Improvements to web site navigation and infrastructure.


Certain parts of Our Site use cookies, which are small files placed on your computer, to better enable visitors to use Our Site.  Generally, cookies enable our server to remember visitors and to help ensure accurate measuring of web traffic. Cookies can be deleted or rejected by changing the settings on your web browser. Sharing Information With Third Parties

IWHC uses third-party Vendors (“Vendors”) in connection with Our Site to provide certain services, such as hosting, software maintenance, and processing donations, which are necessary for IWHC operations, including the operation of Our Site.

Disclosure for Legal Purposes
We may disclose and use Your Personal Information in special circumstances where it is necessary, including to protect our proprietary rights, in connection with a sale or transfer of some or all of our assets in Our Site, or when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires us to do so.

Email Addresses
Except as otherwise set forth in this Statement, IWHC will not share your email address with any third party other than our Service Providers; we use email addresses for internal purposes and to promote efficient communications between IWHC and our supporters and donors.

We may share anonymous information collected about visitors to Our Site with companies that help us run and maintain Our Site and that help us provide information and services to our visitors.

This Privacy Statement applies to your use of Our Site only. We do not own, operate or control the web sites of our Vendors.  Accordingly, this Statement does not apply to a Vendor’s collection, use, storage and disclosure of your Personal Information, except where stated otherwise.

Location of Servers and Transfer of Information

Our servers are located in the United States. If you are located outside of the United States, be aware that the information you provide to us will be transferred to the United States. By using our Site or providing Your Personal Information to us, you consent to this transfer and to the collection, storage, processing and use of your Personal Information in the United States.  If you are located in the United States, our service providers may not be located in your geographic area in the United States. By providing Your Personal Information on the Site, you consent to the transfer of Your Personal Information to these service providers.

Our Site contains links to other Web sites that we think may interest you. We have no control over these other sites or their content. Be sure to read the privacy policies that govern your use of other sites before giving them any of Your Personal Information.
