Every day, 37,000 girls are married before the age of 18. This effectively ends a girl’s childhood, curtails her education, minimizes her economic opportunities, and in turn perpetuates cycles of poverty and violence. In this panel discussion organized by the Permanent Mission of Zambia to the UN and the International Women’s Health Coalition, experts will address the links between child, early, and forced marriage and sexual and reproductive health and rights in order to mobilize country commitments to comprehensively address the practice in Africa.
