Stuart Burden is Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. His passion for justice, equality, and human rights fuels his pursuit of lasting solutions to complex social problems. He has more than 25 years of experience in grant-making, corporate social responsibility, management consulting, and strategic communications.
Burden has worked with several private and corporate foundations including, the S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation and the New York Foundation. He has also worked as a not-for-profit management consultant with the Monitor Institute (now Monitor Deloitte).
From April 2000 to January 2003, Burden served on the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, spanning both the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations. In 1994 and 1995, he was an NGO delegate to the International Conference on Population & Development (Cairo), and the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing).
Burden earned his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and his master’s degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
