Susan Wood

Director of Program Learning and Evaluation

Susan became the Director of Program Learning and Evaluation in October 2013, after serving multiple roles at IWHC. In her current position, she oversees IWHC’s monitoring and evaluation efforts and grantmaking systems. Previously, Susan was Director of Special Projects, Interim President, Senior Program Officer for Latin America, and Program Director, overseeing IWHC’s programs in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

Susan has 30 years of experience with nongovernmental organizations and foundations, carrying out advocacy, strategic planning, program development, implementation, and assessment, writing and editing, and grantmaking for social change. She has worked as a consultant to a number of philanthropic and international organizations active in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights, including the International Planned Parenthood Federation/Western Hemisphere Region (IPPF/WHR), the Ford Foundation, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Population Council, Atlantic Philanthropies, and the MacArthur Foundation. In addition, from 2004 to 2009 Susan was Program Officer for Sexuality and Reproductive Health with the Ford Foundation in Vietnam.

She has also worked with a number of organizations focused on social justice, including the North American Congress on Latin America (NACLA) and the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC).

Susan has a Master’s degree in international relations from Columbia University, specializing in Latin America.
