2015 Annual Dinner

On November 3, IWHC honored the Ford Foundation for its founding support of IWHC and its deep commitment to human rights, equality, and sexual and reproductive health and rights. Ford Foundation President Darren Walker accepted the honor by thanking IWHC for its efforts to advance women's rights around the globe:

"IWHC's inspiring work—with governments, civil society organizations, and community leaders—is a shining example of how to tackle women’s issues from all angles. It has made the world a more accepting, uplifting, and fairer place, and lifted the sights and lives of women and girls."

At the dinner, IWHC President Francoise Girard presented Turkish feminist Pinar Ilkkaracan with the 2015 Joan B. Dunlop Award.



Why Ending Child Marriage Should Be a U.S. Foreign Policy Priority

On December 9, 2013, the IWHC Leadership Council Committee will host Rachel Vogelstein, Director of Women and Girls Programs at the Clinton Foundation and author of a Council on Foreign Relations report on child marriage.

Ms. Vogelstein will discuss how child marriage threatens the security and stability of countries that continue to practice it, and why ending early and forced marriage should be a priority for U.S. foreign policy.

A Witty Take on Arranged Marriage in India Spurs Conversation

On July 16, 2015, a diverse group of more than 40 Friends of IWHC gathered for a screening of The Great Indian Marriage Bazaar and a conversation with its director, Ruchika Muchhala. The screening room, courtesy of IWHC’s neighbors Doctors Without Borders, was abuzz with Friends reconnecting and networking over Indian beer, kathi rolls, and other Indian-themed fare.

IWHC's 30th Anniversary Celebration

On September 9, 2014, IWHC celebrated its 30th Anniversary. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg joined IWHC President Françoise Girard and Aryeh Neier, President Emeritus of the Open Society Foundations, for a discussion about progress and setbacks for women’s rights in the United States.
