A philanthropist for more than 30 years, Susan Nitze has served in a range of arts, education, and social service organizations. To mention a few, she is a founding member of the Volunteer Council of the New York Philharmonic, and a Trustee Emerita of the American Academy in Rome as well as the Groton School in Groton, Massachusetts.

She is a member of the Women and Foreign Policy Advisory Council of the Women and Foreign Policy program at the Council on Foreign Relations, and was a committee member of Network 20/20, which helps educate the next generation of U.S. leaders on policies promoting global public security. She is currently a board member of the Veerni Project, which works to empower adolescent girls in Rajastahan, India, and has served on the board of the Girl Scout Council of Greater New York for more than 20 years, including in her current role as President Emerita.

Nitze is a graduate of Wellesley College.
