All peoples in the world have the right to existence.
The overall goal of the Martinefoundation is to endorse and promote marginalized and vulnerable groups access to their sexual and reproductive right to self-determination, their cultural integrity and their right to development on their own conditions. In order to fulfill this task, we work within a wide range of areas: documentation, publication, human rights, lobbying, advocacy, research and projects.
We work with marginalized and vulnerable groups who have particular barriers to realising their sexual and reproductive rights such as:
• Rural women
• People living with HIV
When sexual and reproductive health needs are met, people in these groups contribute to economic growth, societal and gender equity and democratic governance. Sexual and reproductive health services encompass three main areas:
• Contraceptive services
• Maternal health services
• Services related to diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (including HIV)
We see improvement in the health of mothers as contingent on the equality of women, access to sexual and reproductive information and supplies including:
• Family planning
• Combating violence against women
• Accessible integrated HIV and AIDS services
• Stronger health systems.
